Listening

My favorite painting to date. It is a piece of my soul. Too often, my anxiety kicks in to second guess all of my decisions. It keeps me isolated and closed off most of the time. But this. THIS. I trusted myself. I added layers knowing I wouldn't like them all but trusting that I would in the end. I thought about how it was worth the layers. I sat on the floor and painted - really painted. I flopped all over adding lines looking like a child with a set of brushes. And then with the marks, I let myself go. I didn't check it in the mirror until I was done. I allowed myself to keep adding. I told myself to enjoy the moment. I listened to myself.
